Dive into the heart of learning with our specialized computing spaces. Each facility supports a broad array of research—from spatial analytics and remote sensing to statistical modeling—empowering students and researchers with top-tier hardware, software, and 24/7 access.
Big Data Computing Lab (SSC 1059) – Equipped with 48 PC workstations and an instructor station, this lab is tailored for processing large geospatial datasets. Features include GIS, remote sensing, statistical software, dual display setups, document camera, print station, and more. The use of this computing laboratory is restricted to students registered in Social Science courses that utilize this room.
GIS Lab (SSC 1316A) – Open 24/7 for students, grads, and faculty, this lab offers industry-standard tools such as ArcGIS, PCI Geomatics, MS Office and more. The use of this micro computing laboratory is restricted to students registered in specific Geography courses, graduate students and faculty.
Graduate Computing Lab (SSC 6300) – The use of this micro computing laboratory is restricted to graduate students and departmental personnel only. Available software includes; ESRI ArcGIS, PCI Geomatics, ENVI, MS-Office and more.
Our Cartographic Section is more than just a map-making hub—it’s a creative studio where precision meets storytelling. Offering full-service cartographic expertise, we support faculty, students, and external partners in crafting compelling, research-grade visualizations. From GIS-driven thematic maps to polished graphic layouts, we deliver professional results and foster hands-on learning.
