International Exchange

Global learning for a connected future.

Studying abroad is all about understanding the interconnectedness of places, cultures and environments. Living and learning in a different country allows you to explore new landscapes, encounter diverse perspectives on global challenges, and gain insights that can't be found in textbooks alone. View this as a chance to build lasting friendships, strengthen your adaptability, and develop cross-cultural communication skills that are highly valued by employers. An exchange will broaden your horizons and enrich both your academic journey and personal growth.

The Geography and Environment Department encourages students in year two or three of their studies in any geography program to participate in the International Exchange Program offered by Western. Please visit the Western International Learning website for more information about possible destinations, application process, and important dates.

The Geography and Environment Department at Western has a special arrangement with the Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, visit their course catalog and look under GRMD for geography course descriptions. For specific course equivalencies ask Angelica Lucaci, alucaci@uwo.ca.

Western undergraduates have also gone to St Andrews, Lancaster, and University of East Anglia on an exchange. Any interested students should apply through the Exchange Office.

If you are thinking about going on exchange next year, plan to attend an information session offered by the International Learning office.
