Program Administration
The Graduate Program is administered by the Graduate Chair with the assistance of the Graduate Administrator. Policy and academic issues are the responsibility of the Graduate Affairs Committee which reports to Department Council. The Graduate Affairs Committee consists of the Graduate Chair, three faculty members, and two graduate student members elected by the Geograd Society.
School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS)
The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies sets policy and helps administer all graduate programs on campus. They are the source for key rules/regulations about things like thesis committees, thesis defences, thesis submission deadlines and thesis format. The program components section of the Geography Graduate Program website is tightly integrated with the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
Geograd Society
Graduate students are represented in the Department by the Geograd Society. The Geograd Society serves an informal social function, an academic function (e.g. speaker series) and an administrative function in the Graduate Program and Department. The Geograd Society elects officers each year, including members on Departmental Standing Committees: i.e., two members to the Graduate Affairs Committee, and one member to Department Council. The Geograd Society also elects departmental representatives to SOGS and the TA Union.
Society of Graduate Students
Graduate students are represented on campus by the Society of Graduate Students (SOGS). They administer health/dental benefits, and provide financial programs and scholarships as well as advocacy. You get your bus pass from SOGS!
Graduate Teaching Assistants Union
The Graduate Teaching Assistants Union provides support and advocacy for all Teaching Assistants.
International Student Services
International Student Services provides information and support for graduate and undergraduate international students.
